The Wright Gift
Of the more than 400+ homes still standing, designed by iconic Architect Frank Lloyd Wright, currently fourteen are for sale (as of the writing of this article). This holiday season, why not surprise your family and loved ones with the gift of Wright? No architect has been more important in the 20th century than Wright. According to the organization website SAVE WRIGHT, there are homes all around the country in proximity to major cities that are looking for new owners, conservation, and love.
One came on the market as of February of this year—The Gerald B. Tonkens House.
Tonkens House Quick Stats
Built in 1955 and located in Cincinnati, OH

The house is one of the best original examples of Wright’s Usonian Automatic homes. The style was designed to be affordable for families, made from concrete block molded on-site. While the cost estimate was to be around $25,000, the final costs three years later was approximately $150,000—six times the original budget. The home is being sold by the original owner and has not changed hands. Most of the Henredon produced Wright furnishings have been preserved.
Why not put a bow on it and give it to your loved ones while also saving an important part of American design—give the Wright gift.
