Episode 086: Matthew Frederick
Matthew Frederick and Elegant Living
A life-long East Coast resident, Matthew Frederick has always been attuned to the beauty of a well-appointed home, and the pleasure that comes along with being comfortable in such a space. This “Elegant Living for Everyday Life” has been his hallmark ever since he launched his eponymous firm in 2001, and it continues to be his ethos in all of his interiors work.
With offices in New York City, New Jersey, Los Angeles and Russia, he has a dedicated team close to Connecticut, the Hamptons, Washington D.C. and most of Western Europe. He is often at work on projects throughout the United States as well as abroad. The firm’s portfolio includes projects in Manhattan, the Hamptons, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Chicago, Russia, and France.
Matthew Frederick Redefines American Style
Matthew is increasingly known for his efforts to redefine the American interior design aesthetic using architecture and design influences that reflect his global awareness of timeless style and sophisticated living. Frederick and his team have received international acclaim and recognition for his design work, most recently having one of his projects featured in the November 2015 Architectural Digest Annual Before & After Issue, being showcased in the London-based Andrew Martin Interior Design Review published in 2014 by TuNeues, and partnering with ESCADA to produce design elements for their flagship retail installation in New York in recognition of the brand’s 35th Anniversary.
Since the inception of M. Frederick Interiors, Matthew’s products and projects have been featured in the pages of Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Traditional Home, Interior Design, LUXE interiors + design, Martha Stewart Living, and Living Spaces magazine in Russia.
Matthew’s emphasis on quality extends through every detail of a project, from the initial design to the final execution, and is reflected in his completed projects and eponymous product assortment. A master curator, he thoughtfully composes a unique home true to its owners. Layering art, integrating collections, and above all editing and mixing ingredients like heirlooms, books and personal touches, his concepts make for a comfortable haven whether the aesthetic is modern or traditional.
