Episode 052: Sabrina Vodnik
Refined Haystack Origins
In 2010 in Chicago, Refined Haystack founder Sabrina Vodnik embarked on a single-family home renovation with a modern vision. Given her background in furniture and design, she was determined to create an exceptional space for her growing family. It took her over two years to complete her home given the challenges she faced in sourcing unique local product without an interior designer or online resource to view the best of Chicago’s local design offerings.
Through these difficulties, Sabrina Vodnik saw an opportunity. Could an innovative website make the residential interior design process significantly more efficient for all parties? Her self-directed renovation had recently reinforced for her the value of hiring a design professional. She became a passionate advocate of the local interior design industry and the shared benefits of connecting designers and local home interior resources.
After more than two years of research and gathering insight from local design industry professionals, Sabrina Vodnik began to build Refined Haystack, a marketplace and resource that focuses solely on the local interior design network and community. The platform is built to help unite, promote, and elevate local interiors communities while providing homeowners and design enthusiasts with knowledge and unique access to trusted design resources.
Refined Haystack officially launched in early 2014, and has since grown to become a curated, hyper-local, designer-driven network of interiors resources that makes it easy for those interested in design to find exactly what they need. The platform offers luxury interior designers, sources, and other industry professionals enhanced opportunities for networking, brand awareness, and the exchange of fresh ideas and authentic recommendations. The platform currently serves the Chicago and Atlanta markets and will continue expanding to additional locations in the future.
