Alan Tanksley is among America’s leading practitioners of residential design, acclaimed for his versatility and attention to detail. Alan Tanksley excels with a mannered approach to interior space planning and his timely delivery of handsome, warm and approachable environments for living.
His day-to-day working relationships with leading architects gives his firm the unusual ability to collaborate with and draw upon expert talents to implement a wide range of architectural and design details for each project it undertakes.
Renown as an expert colorist, Alan Tanksley creates rich and appealing palettes that ultimately manage to make every interior space both exciting and relaxing simultaneously. He is also highly regarded for his custom furniture and fixture design.
As an associate with the distinguished Interior Decorator Mark Hampton, Alan Tanksley worked closely with Mr Hampton on the design and supervision of many of the company’s most notable residential projects. Upon leaving Mr. Hampton’s firm, he formed a partnership with Paula Perlini, a former colleague, before starting his own company in 1993. He is a graduate of Arizona State University’s School of Architecture specializing in Interior Architecture.
His work has been widely seen in publications such as Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, House and Garden, Interior Design , Art and Antiques and Metropolitan Home.
Included among the organizations to which Alan Tanksley donates his time and talents are New York Forward Action which he co-founded in 1988, “Design on a Dime” benefiting Housing Works, Bailey Houses’s Annual Gala and Auction and “Dining by Design”, sponsored by Elle Decor.
