Bespoke Bathroom – Custom 3d Printed Bathroom Fixtures
T op UK bathroom retailer Bathroom Heaven is pioneering the use of 3D technology in the bathroom to make bespoke fixtures. “There was a time when only the ultra-wealthy could afford a bespoke home—especially custom bathroom fixtures. Now with the use of 3D print technology, we are able to offer more people this custom option,” says managing director Craig Dessoy for Bathroom Heaven.
Through Bathroom Heaven’s relationship with Lasa Idea, an Italian specialist company, Bathroom Heaven are able to provide architecturally-designed, 3D printed bathroom units.
Virtually every unit in a bathroom can be created using 3D printing, including major pieces such as bathtubs, showers and sinks, as well as shelves, and small tables. With 3D printing, the usual rule book of manufacturing goes out the window. Complete pieces can be produced in one go, avoiding unsightly joins and limitations of shape associated with more traditional materials. This opens up far greater possibilities in terms of architecturally designed and influenced bathroom products. Imagination will be able to play a bigger part in the design of the bathroom products of the future.
Dessoy shares, “Our first range – Uno Punto Zero – is the initial step on a journey to a very exciting future. It has attracted awards and interest from all over Europe, especially among the architectural community. Going forward we are going to see all sorts of 3D printed products for the bathroom, with design options increasing and production costs coming down. Uno Punto Zero is a stunning first range targeted at the higher end of the market. We are proud to be involved with this important new technology at such an early stage in its lifecycle, and look forward to playing a key role as it becomes more and more accessible.”
